Kyudo is a Japanese martial art based on shooting an arrow from a Japanese bow to a target to reach a complete focus of mind and body. The main difference of kyudo and western archery is that, in kyudo, every movement follows a traditional routine that pays respect to the equipment and to the opponent. You will come to the archery range and dress in an authentic kyudo uniform, which will include dogi—the upper wear—and hakama—the lower wear. I'll give a brief explanation about the art of kyudo as well as instructions and demonstrations. With the knowledge you'll gain, you will learn to shoot arrows at the target. You'll also understand the fun and challenging aspect of the sport, particularly while wearing the traditional hakama and armor. Usually in kyudo, you are not allowed to pull the arrow unless you master the basics. But during our lesson, you will be able to enjoy the real kyudo experience even as a complete beginner. It will be a great time if you are looking for a nice photo or movie to show to your friends.

The first lesson is about gratitude. It talks about taking the time to appreciate all the blessings in your life, no matter how small. Furthermore, it reminds us to be appreciative of our friends and loved ones and all that they do for us. Next, listeners are reminded of the need to live life passionately, to enjoy the simple pleasures of everyday existence, as well as the long-term pleasures of achieving your goals and ambitions that you worked so hard for. The third lesson shifts to strategies for dealing with challenges and opposition. The warrior of the book studies the opponent during a fight to learn his strategy. This commutes to a lesson about learning from experience (rather than just training and theory). Here is a preview of what you'll learn: How everyone and everything is connected The reason why some people "get it" and others don't Learn how to live your life in a way that brings more peace and harmony 1. Anyone who wishes to learn the sport of fencing will find the basic elements necessary to begin in Foil, Saber, and Epee Fencing. The already accomplished fencer will find methodology and strategies by which to overcome one's opponent in tournament play. The coach and teacher is herein presented with lesson plans by which to chart a student's progress. The administrator is advised of the safety factors and range of liability to consider while incorporating fencing into a sports program. Three eminent coaches, each with a wide range of international experience, present their methods of teaching, which are compatible for the student choosing to learn the skills necessary in more than one weapon. Excellent photographs and diagrams illustrate the concepts, and an extensive annotated bibliography provides the reader with a wide selection of research materials. Late in the summer of 1993, new rule changes were adopted by the United States Fencing Association. These changes, which went into effect with the start of the 1993-94 fencing season, are included in this manual. Foil, Saber, and Epee Fencing also traces the transition of the art of duelling from the combat arena to the sports arena.
