Knife-on-Knife and Multiple Opponent Knife Defense Strategies (Knife Training Methods and Techniques for Martial Artists, #8): Martina Sprague
In Isle of Trains, players are train operators, building trains with the right mix of freight cars needed to complete delivery contracts before your opponents. Cards are used in multiple ways: they can be built as train cars or buildings supporting your train line, used as currency to pay the cost of building those new train cars and buildings, or used as cargo to load on available train cars. When loading cargo on an opponents train, players receive an immediate benefit or action, but they are also giving their opponent the cargo they just might need to be able to complete a delivery contract and score big! Balancing the need to upgrade your train, take advantage of benefits from loading other players´ trains, and complete delivery contracts first is the key to being the most successful train operator on the Isle of Trains!

Note: This is a summary and not the original book. We live in a culture that highlights the importance of democratic values, of fitting into a group, of knowing how to cooperate with other people. We are constantly trained and prepared for peace, but we´re not at all prepared for the perpetual war that we must fight in the real world. This war occurs not only on the military battlefield, but on multiple levels of society. In business, politics, sports, even the arts, we find ourselves facing ruthless opponents that are willing to do anything to gain an edge. More troubling, however, are the battles we face with those who claim to be on our side - those who seem to play the team game, who act friendly and agreeable, only to sabotage us behind the scenes, to use the group to secure their own selfish interests. On the surface, everything seems peaceful and harmonious, but just below it, it is often every man and woman for themselves. Our culture may deny this reality, but we all know it and feel it in our daily lives. As equally important as The 48 Laws of Power and The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War by Robert Greene is a comprehensive guide to human interaction which reveals how the most ingenious and effective principles of warfare can be applied to the battles and conflicts of everyday life. Each chapter is a strategy aimed at solving a particular problem that you will often encounter in your daily struggles. The strategies range from the basic strategies of classical warfare to the dirty and unconventional strategies of modern times, and can be applied to struggles of any kind: organized warfare, business campaigns, the politics of a group, or personal relationships. 1. Have you ever wondered why two wrestlers can wrestle multiple times with drastically different results? Or why: Wrestler A beat wrestler B, Wrestler B beat wrestler C, But wrestler A lost to wrestler C? The answer is hidden in plain sight. Styles make matches. Choosing to create advantaged positions and avoid disadvantaged positions is the most underutilized strategic asset in wrestling. The wrestler who wrestles in his highest advantage position, for the longest time in the match, will have the greater probability of winning. That is the reason why two wrestlers wrestle multiple times with drastically different outcomes, and why the logic doesn´t hold that if one wrestler beat another he should be able to beat the wrestler his prior opponent beat. If you watch and research matches between the same wrestler´s you will see, more times than not, the reason there was a different outcome was because one wrestler was able to wrestle in his highest advantage position in one match and was not able to do so in the other. Your job is to understand which position is your most favorable matchup position versus your opponent. Where you have the greatest advantage. Where you have the highest probability of scoring points as quickly. And to get to that position. I believe, you don´t get to that position by chance, I believe, you get to that position by choice. ´´Choice, not chance, determines your destiny´´ - Aristotle Choice is part of the WrestlingU Series - Train Your Brain A series dedicated to the wrestler who is looking to get to the next level. A wrestler who understands the value of training his mind along with his body. Each book in the series tackles and breaks down a key aspect of the sport of high school and collegiate wrestling 1. It is a time of unrest in 1920s Europa. The ashes from the first great war still darken the snow. The capitalistic city-state known simply as The Factory, which fueled the war with heavily armored mechs, has closed its doors, drawing the attention of several nearby countries.Scythe (1-5 players, 115 minutes) is a board game set in an alternate-history 1920s period. It is a time of farming and war, broken hearts and rusted gears, innovation and valor. In Scythe, each player represents a fallen leader attempting to restore their honor and lead their faction to power in Eastern Europa. Players conquer territory, enlist new recruits, reap resources, gain villagers, build structures, and activate monstrous mechs. Each player begins the game with different resources (strength, victory points, movement capabilities, and popularity), their choice of several faction-specific abilities, and a hidden goal. Starting positions are specially calibrated to contribute to each factions uniqueness and the asymmetrical nature of the game.Scythe gives players almost complete control over their fate. Other than each players individual hidden objective card, the only elements of luck are encounter cards that players will draw as they interact with the citizens of newly explored lands and combat cards that give you a temporary boost in combat. Combat is also driven by choices, not luck or randomness.Scythe uses a streamlined action-selection mechanism (no rounds or phases) to keep gameplay moving at a brisk pace and reduce downtime between turns. While there is plenty of direct conflict, there is no player elimination, nor can units be killed or destroyed.Every part of Scythe has an aspect of engine-building to it. Players can upgrade actions to become more efficient, build structures that improve their position on the map, enlist new recruits to enhance character abilities, activate mechs to deter opponents from invading, and expand their borders to reap greater types and quantities of resources. These engine-building aspects create a sense of momentum and progress throughout the game. The order in which players improve their engine adds to the unique feel of each game, even when playing one faction multiple times.
