Christian Socialism And Its Opponents:A Lecture (1851) John Malcolm Ludlow
Most interpreters of 1, 2, 3 John believe that the authors opponents (called antichrists, deceivers, and false prophets) advocated gnostic or progressive doctrines that denied or downplayed the humanity of Jesus Christ and the importance of ethical behaviour, and eventually split the Johannine community. Against this consensus, Streett argues that the opponents are former Jewish-Christians who have left the community to return to the synagogue after renouncing their belief that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. Daniel R. Streett , Criswell College, Southeastern Seminary, Dallas, TX, USA.
Excerpt from Catholic Church and Christian State, Vol. 1 of 2: A Series of Essays on the Relation of the Church to the Civil Power The Translator has now to give, in a concise and continuous form, certain portions of Dr. Hergenrother´s introduction, which are scattered amid his criticisms of his literary opponents, and which are as interesting and profitable to English as to German readers, inasmuch as describing certain common failings and false positions fatal to true historical impartiality. The Christian Entirely the Property of Christ, in Life and Death, Vol. 2:Exhibited in Fifty-Three Sermons on the Heidelbergh Catechism, Wherein the Doctrine of Faith, Received in the Reformed Church, Is Defended Against the Principal Opponents, and the P John Vanderkemp
The Bible is explicit: We live in a world of distinct opponents; our very lives are a battle. Yet too many Christians lose more battles than they win and endure their walk with God rather than enjoy it because they don´t recognize the enemy when they see it. More importantly, they have no idea how to respond. While society tells us we can react simply, the truth is that a wish, a hope, and a prayer are not the best responses to attacks from those who stand between us and the Father. Christians must be strategic in their reactions to these clearly defined enemies, learning how to fight biblically and effectively rather than just sincerely. In Spiritual Warfare, Dr. Karl Payne - pastor of Leadership Development and Discipleship at Antioch Bible Church and Chaplain for the NFL´s Seattle Seahawks - has written a guidebook for defense that is simple, biblical, and transferable. Through his teaching on how to recognize and resolve attacks from the world, we learn that we are more than conquerors in Christ. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Tim Lundeen.
This book pits readers against grandmasters by placing them in real-game situations where there is a why to defeat a well-known player, Kongsted: ´´Your task is to find the moves which lead to the defeat of some of the strongest players in the world. Quite often one move can change the course of the game, and calculating with precision at the right moment can mean the difference between winning and losing. Even if you have had a lost position for a long time, you may suddenly get the chance to turn things around if your opponent drops his guard for a moment.´´ Contains 351 puzzle positions with full solutions.
Roland is the hero of the world famous French heroic poem, which became an example of a Christian knight. ´´Song of Roland´´ - a classic example of the epic, praising knightly valor, devotion to God and the king, who personified the state. The work narrates about the events during the war of Charlemagne with the Spanish Saracens. It was written several centuries after the battle of 778. Traitor Count Ganelon offers the tsar of Zaragoza Marsilia to attack the rearguard of the army of Charlemagne, setting up an ambush in the Ronseval gorge. As a result of this betrayal, a detachment of Franks led by Breton Count Roland is cut off from Carl´s army and forced to engage in a battle with the multiply superior forces of the opponents.
The battle is ours! ´´Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world.´´ (Eph. 6:12 NIV) For generations when Christians have engaged in spiritual warfare, most of the time they have focused on ´´Satan´´ as the main opponent. However, C. Peter Wagner has gathered together a number of ministers who teach from personal experience that the ´´principalities and powers´´ are more than just Satan - there is an entire hierarchy of demons in this world. Often, missionaries and ministers are finding that they have far more success in an area when they first go to war in the spirit and in prayer against the evil power that rules a certain region. C. Peter Wagner has compiled this book of many voices, speaking from scripture and personal experience, teaching the reality of territorial spirits and the necessity of waging targeted, powerful warfare against them in order to reach the souls these evil powers have held captive for too long. You will learn: There is an entire hierarchy of demons in this world, many with specific geographic territories. Once a territorial spirit´s power is broken, ministry in that area can be far more effective. How to go to war against evil spirits to break their power over the people of a region. Christians must take to heart what the Bible teaches about spiritual warfare. Arm yourself with this book! 1. Language: English. Narrator: Dave Clark.
